Beijing Chaoyang KaiWen Academy

Designed by BIAD (Beijing Institute of Architectural Design), Beijing Chaoyang KaiWen Academy project is invested and constructed by Beijing Wenkaixing Education Investment Co., Ltd. affiliated to Beijing Badachu Holdings Group. It is a large-scale comprehensive private international school with the concept of internationalized open education and an international education perspective, emphasizing the comprehensive development in cultural courses, physical education and art education.

The school covers an area of about 14.14 hectares, with a total construction area of 280,000 square meters. The school group comprises of different functional buildings including the primary school teaching building (40 classes), junior and senior high school teaching building (120 classes), sports center, arts performance center (theater), student dormitory and teaching and research building. Each part is relatively independent and capable of effective integration and allocation of education resources, forming a systematic whole-course education system and creating a high-end private international education platform.

Considering that in the age of digital information, the spoon-feeding education cannot really make knowledge get be rooted in the mind. The design team makes the design of campus space different from traditional schools and follows the principles of openness and diversity. Through the overall layout planning of the campus space, this design creates an enclosed courtyard space that facilitates the "dialogue" between teachers and students, making it tend to be a small social group so as to promote exchanges and interactions between classes and grades, instruct students to establish a reasonable order of life and learning, and play a role in educating people in a subtle way. Through a series of empty blocks and shifted panes, a rich and varied façade effect is formed, and a richer and pleasant interior environment is created in combination with the landscape, providing a place for exchanges between students and between teachers and students.
