Overview of the 9th China (Beijing) International Garden Expo

The 9th China (Beijing) International Garden Expo was held on the Yongding River in Fengtai District, Beijing from April to October 2013. It is an international exhibition of garden industry at the domestic highest level jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Beijing Municipal Government. Relying on the watercourse of Yongding River, the expo park echoes the ancient Lugou Bridge, boasting of rich historical and cultural atmosphere, changeable terrain and interdependent landscape.

This design fully responds to the exhibition themes of "Green Symphony, Garden in Flourishing Age" and "Garden City, Beautiful Home". The spatial layout structure of "one axis, two points, three zones, and five gardens" was planned. One axis: The north-south landscape axis running through the park from The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture on the north to the functional wetland area on the south. Two points: The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture, a collection of garden cultural encyclopedias at the foot of Yingshan Mountain at the northern end, and a colorful Fairview Valley that is ecologically transformed from the original landfill site, which are two prominent highlights of this design. Three belts: Three east-west landscape green corridors get through the spatial connection between Yongding River, Garden Expo Park and the future West 1st District of Zhongguancun. Five Gardens: Five functional areas divided by The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture and three landscape corridors, one of which is a functional wetland area, and the other four are the theme exhibition areas of the Garden Expo.
